This Work Package assesses the efficiency of economic research funding sources and systems across the different European countries.
This task will be performed by collecting data on the community of economists in Europe and the different funding agencies. The objective of these surveys is to understand the different technologies and mechanisms of funding economic research and to evaluate their impact. Obtaining a correct evaluation of the performance of funding mechanisms is crucial for detecting weaknesses and strengths, sources of improvement and external accountability of funding agencies.
The proposed solution is to use bibliometric analysis to provide performance measures and to link these measures to the characteristics of the different funding schemes. In addition, the bibliometric analysis will take into account the heterogeneity of the scientific community in terms of culture and gender.
This Work Package will produce a report, following the process depicted in the following chart.
